About

About NovaGenetica

NovaGenetica exists for a simple reason: genetic algorithms and genetic programming are a genuinely different way to solve hard problems, and the good material on them is scattered. This site gathers it in one calm, readable place — and shows the ideas at work in a real robot.

Who curates this

Darin R. Molnar, PhD

Technologist · Researcher · Builder

NovaGenetica is curated by Darin R. Molnar, PhD — a technologist and researcher who builds software, AI systems, and physical machines, and who works hands-on with evolutionary methods. The SEED-Nav navigation robot featured on this site is one of his projects: a genetic algorithm evolving a robot's behavior on real hardware.

Darin brings decades of experience across technology development and project management, spanning solo founders, small teams, and large organizations. His work runs from shipping production software through CI/CD to prototyping physical products — and, as the SEED-Nav paper shows, to applied research at the intersection of evolutionary computation and robotics. That mix is why this site pairs clear primers with a working machine: the theory and the practice belong together.

Shoreline Consulting

Darin's professional and consulting work runs through Shoreline Consulting — building websites, software, AI agents, and mobile apps, plus a maker lab for 3D printing, CNC cutting, and woodworking. If you have a project in mind — software or hardware, including evolutionary- computation and robotics work like SEED-Nav — that's the place to start a conversation.

About this site

NovaGenetica is a static, fast-loading reference with no tracking and no clutter — built the way good documentation should be. It's a living resource: the library and the primers will grow over time. If something's missing or out of date, let us know.
